NEGRIL
The seven mile beach has been noted by several travel magazines as one of the top three beaches in the world. If you walked down the beach in mid February you probably wouldn’t believe that in two weeks this peaceful quiet stretch of sand would be exploding into one of the Caribbean’s biggest parties of the year. Soon will come thousands of college kids from all over the United States to this small tropical paradise on the west end of Jamaica. Party all night either barefoot on the beach at the many thatched roof bars or join the thousands of students at one of the world famous Xtreme parties. Come to Negril and party on the “hottest” tropical island the Caribbean has to offer.

The magic and allure of Negril is that it still keeps it’s laid back charm in the midst of this surge of Spring Breakers. When Spring Break starts at the end of February this town comes alive like no other festival the town has ever seen. The locals love the partying spirit of the students and will make you feel like Jamaica’s your home for the duration of your vacation.

Negril’s best kept secret are the cliffs. Moving west down Norman Manley Blvd, after the Roundabout. Negril’s beach turns into a 5 mile winding road of low lying coral cliffs. Up here the hotels, bars, and restaurants are built right onto the edge of the water, even though some are forty-feet down. Here you can cliff dive, snorkel, explore underground caves at places like Rick’s Café and Rock House Resort. Because the cliffs face west, it makes it an ideal spot to kick back with a rum punch and watch the famous Negril Sunset.

Hotels are relatively small and simple due to zoning laws that prohibit building higher than the tallest coconut tree. Properties are either Oceanside or directly across the one lane road; you are never more than 200 yards from the Caribbean.

Watch Negril come alive once the sun sets at places like Margaritaville, Risky Business, The Jungle, Fun Holiday, Legends, Alfreds and DeBuss. The seven-mile beach lights up with many bonfires and the bars pulsate with music until sunrise.
